Max Mara

Max Mara Woman Spring Summer 2017 – Max Mara’s SS17 show was an urban jungle inspired by architect and designer Lina Bo Bardi. The show was infused with lush greens and the runway transformed into a tropical backdrop for the collection.

There was a sporty twist to the house’s classic look. Jersey leggings and jodhpur trousers added an athletic touch and a black hoodie peeked out from under a classic white coat.

The most striking element of the collection was the jungle prints. Vibrant palms and zebra prints plastered many of the pieces whilst lemurs and parrots climbed across knitwear. Dresses were figure hugging and complete with emerald green skirts that embodied the popular fringe trend.

Whilst the black, white and brown pieces in classic shapes were still prominent, colour was a welcome addition including head-to-to royal blue and lemon yellow. Pencil skirts and bright colours paid homage to the Tropicalia countercultural movement of 1960s Brazil with which Bardi was associated.

Perforated heeled clogs were worn throughout and black belts created a feminine shape despite the structured silhouette.
