Spring-Summer 2013 – Jean Paul Gaultier’s show was a very theatrical one with a thousand and one nights from the cast of hit musical TV show Smash blasting out over the stereo. It seemed a sort of fashion fusion as art, he showed his obligatory nautical stripes and shorts with detachable kilts, a nod to the west with scents from the east; silk scarves, turbans and printed silks. It was a collection of grandeur and importance conveyed through the emotion of the song and the flamboyant clothes; a tuxedo jumpsuit, a leather trench coat, a snakeskin satin suit. It conveyed riches and majesty, but in a very relaxed way; a work of art.
