Autumn-Winter 2010/11 – The music immediately makes me think of an old 1960s movie set on the French Riviera with its soft jazzy tones but the clothes don’t “match” it. Bottega Veneta is focusing on the harder fabrics of winter, thick denim and dark leathers. Heavy lace up boots give it a sort of military style at times, but the rolled up jeans, shorter trousers and the models oily curled front coifs make one think of grease the movie. Blue and black overalls and tapered tracksuit trousers show a manual labourer, initially showing a casual look and later a smarter, “cleaned up” look with jeans shirts and jackets, in keeping with the 1960s theme he shows some red and royal blue jackets with large collars. The smarter suits are velvet and satin with cummerbunds and bow ties that are really just a piece of ribbon tied in a bow. There is something for men of all classes, from worker to aristocrat.
