Haider Ackermann

Haider Ackermann Women Spring Summer 2016

Haider Ackermann’s craftsmanship in leather and silk was demonstrated through the beautiful tailoring in his SS16 show.  Models had quirky feather headpieces, which came over their faces, in pastel blue, purple, and pink.  Make up was kept minimal to show off these designs, and the models’ hair was streaked with candyfloss colours.

Workwear – such as blouses and blazers – was deconstructed and distressed and remade with an avant garde twist with patterns and colour in true Ackermann style.  Silk trousers were dyed into an array of colours like duck egg blue, and velvet was used to create coloured jackets that shone like jewels.  He favoured the use of metallics and silk draping to flatter the body, and used different textures together to create garments that had a luxe, baroque feel.  The overall effect was like stepping in to an aviary full of birds of paradise, whilst remaining majestic and chic.
