Emanuel Ungaro

Emanuel Ungaro Women Spring Summer 2016

Fausto Puglisi was appointed to revamp the dying French fashion house in 2012, and he has certainly succeeded in his quest to do so.  His SS16 collection for Emanuel Ungaro made an impact with its feminine designs, psychedelic patterns and flower motifs, which were appliqued onto knee high boots (the thigh high white boots adorned with these are a guilty pleasure), skirts, and blouses.

His featuring patterns consisted of black squiggled lines and flowers over a duck egg blue, looked eye-catching and chic, and were printed onto garments of all forms:  In particular, harness style crop tops with chain and black net detailing, shirts with ruffles, and trousers.  Not one to shy away from unashamedly girly design, his long sleeved dress patterned with silver sequins and matching silver leather pointed court shoes took the metallic trend to an adorable level, bordering on the right side of sweet – and most importantly, veering away from being kitsch, which could be the case with such super-cute designs.  His waxed black patent rain mac was also a favourite, as was the saccharine pink embroidered flower lace ensembles.  Puglisi knows exactly how to get the right balance of quirky yet chic and wearable, and his gorgeous patterns are testament of this.  Magnifique.
