Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane Woman Spring Summer 2017 – Christopher Kane this year was celebrating his 10th anniversary, and therefore in commemoration the designer used this presentation to develop on his past successes. A previous Kane signature of floral appliques was largely placed on jackets, dresses and skirts. His famous trophy jumper was reinvented using religious imagery. In addition cut outs and sheer overlays were reinterpretated.

Alongside the commemorative clothing a trend for Spring Summer 2017 identified in the designs was the use of metal hoops. These connected together cut up shirts with religious images, midi dresses, long jackets and midi skirts. These hoops accompanied dusky pink skirts with black lace overlays, metallic patchwork sweaters, and metallic skirts with revealing mesh patchwork.

The main talking point of the collection was the introduction of crocs to the runway. It may be hard to imagine models strutting in crocs but these were covered in crystals, proving them catwalk-worthy. The crocs themselves were khaki, navy and nude pinks with a marble pattern. The crystal decoration matched the accessories worn by the models. Necklaces, earrings, and bracelets were all made out of gold metal with grey, aqua, emerald and metallic crystals. These crystals were also used to flatter designs, such as black string bralettes and silver chain bodysuits.

The catwalk was an attempt to prove Kane’s progression and his successes throughout his ten years in fashion. Models stomped down the runway, seriously showing off Kane’s intricate designs. Make-up was kept natural and hair had a wet look, with a harsh side parting.
