Chalayan Women Spring Summer 2016

Known for his experimental designs, Chalayan’s latest catwalk stunt involved a shower of water being poured over soluble, delicate clothing, which then fell away and revealed beautiful dresses designed with applique white rose petals placed in-between a graphic black line design.

His SS16 collection had a distinctive Oriental theme; models’ faces were painted Geisha style, white with red lips, while his dresses were adorned with delicate patterns of miniature creatures and graphic shapes, and structured into Origami style shapes – this will be a big trend next season, having appeared in almost every catwalk collection! – and utility button-down dresses (same goes for this too).  Never one to shy away from wacky design, Chalayan’s mule style shoes were made to look as though a wooden midplate was balanced on a wooden cylinder heel, whilst being tied with white rope at the ankle.
