Watch out, the French are coming! The newest in a fresh wave of fashion à la française, The Kooples, the mid-range French fashion brand has opened its first US stores with a 3,100-square-foot (290 square meter) Los Angeles flagship location stocking both the main line and the Kooples Sport collections and a second store on Fillmore Street in San Francisco (which opened last month).

The Los Angeles store which arrived last week, will be followed by a New York City boutique on 14th Street in the Meatpacking District set to open in August, and another SoHO location, which will appear in October. The Kooples currently has 350 points of sale around the world including directly operated stores in 13 countries.

The move is part of a growing trend. Fellow Frenchie Isabel Marant opened her first US store in 2010 followed by brands including Sandro, APC and Maje who have all recently brought their contemporary luxury mix to the States.
