LFW: architectural folds at Christopher Kane

Posted on

Christopher Kane opened with leather pants for Spring/Summer 2015, moving on to a collection packed with rope motifs, pleats and some stunning sheer silks. Alongside all of that were the bursts of tulle which came out of architectural folds on skirts and dresses, and wrapped ruff-like around the models’ necks. The metallic sheen to the silk evening dresses also matched the shimmer of the runway.

While the opening look featured flat luxe pool slides (Kane was one of the first to put them on the runway a few seasons back, kickstarting the recent trend), most of the footwear came with a heel including the strappy sandals (some with chunky cut-stone embellishments).

Clothes aside, the big story Monday was the designer’s collaboration with Nars on a cosmetics capsule due out next spring. The cosmetics brand has been creating Kane’s runway looks since 2012, but this is the first time he’s worked on the products themselves including the ‘Violet Atom Multiple’ which was spotted backstage at the show by Vogue UK and got its debut on the models at the show.
