June menswear preview: London, Paris, Milan

Milan

The big news for this season in Milan is the Moschino no-show. The Italian luxury brand will be hosting an event in Shanghai on June 13 that is set to show off the label’s latest pre-fall collection for women, alongside the upcoming men’s Spring-Summer 2014 looks. For this reason, the brand is skipping a season.

Otherwise it’s business as usual in the Italian fashion capital, which will see a packed schedule featuring the usual giant names including Giorgio Armani, Versace and Marc Jacobs from June 22 to 25.

Paris

Back in June 2010, Haider Ackermann showed a selection of men’s looks mixed in with womenswear at the Pitti fashion fair in Florence to critical acclaim. The Colombian-born designer, a favorite of Oscar-winning actress and style icon Tilda Swinton, has received continued plaudits for his women’s collections but until now has never followed up with a full menswear show.

This June the wait is finally over and Haider Ackermann is set to show his Paris menswear debut on June 26. Expect plenty of attention for the man once tipped to take over the reins at Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld himself, no less.

London

The story in London this year is the return of the prodigal (or not so-prodigal) sons, as a series of UK brands return to the newly revitalized ‘London Collections: Men’.

A British brand through-and-through, Burberry has nonetheless traditionally showed its Burberry Prorsum menswear collection in Milan. This year they’re bringing it back to Blighty for what will no doubt be a celebrity-packed show on June 18.

Established in New York City by British pals David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, Rag & Bone has also been drawn back to Britain for LC:M and is moving its menswear show to London this summer.
