Tonight, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk opens it doors at the Grand Palais in Paris. The travelling exhibition commenced in Montréal in June 2011, and has already drawn 1.4 million visitors between its nine previous locations.

The retrospective of Jean Paul Gaultier’s fascinating career has now hit the couturier’s hometown, and this time is bigger and better than ever. Sorted in a more chronological and biographical manner, the exhibition features more pieces, muses, technologies, mannequins and Odile Gilbert hairstyles than its previous locations. This expansive display is presented over two floors, featuring around 175 outfits enriched by fashion photography, sketches and videos that accompanied his designs.

Curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot and designed by Agence Projectiles, this inspiring exhibition on the career of fashion’s enfant terrible runs until 3rd August. Previously showcased at Montréal, Dallas, San Francisco, Madrid, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Brooklyn, London and Melbourne, the retrospective’s next stop is due in Munich this September.
