Giles Deacon to Focus on Paris Haute Couture

British fashion designer Giles Deacon has announced that the focus of his eponymous house will soon shift from a ready-to-wear focus to presenting solely haute couture, at least for the time being.

“We want to focus on what we do well, and maximise the success of the red carpet and private client work we’ve been doing over the past four years” Giles told WWD, “We want to be the go-to business for super special daywear and eveningwear, to focus on what we are known for, and what our customers want from us.” Among these customers are Angelina Jolie, Thandie Newton and Kristen Scott Thomas.

Giles was one of the main designers to draw attention back to London Fashion Week and to London as a fashion center, revealing a collection in 2004 with a show walked by high profile models such as Karen Elson, Eva Herzigova and Linda Evangelista. While he has reported that he will maintain and grow his team in London, Paris has become the new focal point for his business expansions. Though he is not the first to depart from his homeland and center on the couture capital, his move to the catwalks of Paris has the potential to again draw the spotlight from London.
