健身包有多种形式，但通常是中号或大号设计的两根把手并附有拉链的柱形皮包，健身包也可能采用行李包的设计。它们可能有一些小设计特点并用于携带健身设备。健身包自20世纪20年代首次面世，男女性均适用。今天的健身包相比起其实际用途更多用于时尚搭配中。
