Autumn-Winter 2011/12 –  Known for his staunch Americanism, Lauren dabbled in the contrasting Eastern apparel looking to China for inspiration. The luxurious vibe was generated by mandolin music and a black lacquered runway. The black-on-black clothing, with spurts of white and jade, perpetrated the theme further, as did the glossy red heels and matching lipstick. It was absolute sophistication. The glossy textures matched the models incandescent hair as wet-look suits and dresses had either a leather or shimmering sheen.  Smart cut blazers and pinstriped suits set a precedent. The girls wore clean cut white shirts, white wrap blouses and at one point, a tie. The collection was smart as roomy pants and tight pencil skirts were nipped in at the waist giving shape to the silhouette. At the dim of the lights, the outwear was displayed. Slender velvet dresses in rich jewel tones and more prominent dress suits captured the traditional element of the collection that will appeal to so many.
