Autumn-Winter 2010/11 – If grunge did fun, it would end up looking like Rykiel’s collection. The usual motif of vibrant colouring was initially missing and replaced with monotonous tones of grey, black and nude. To begin, huge clown-like grey suits and coats dwarfed the girls. An oversized tone ran throughout the show. It was hard to ignore the humongous pompoms taking over the girls heads, yet less intrusive were the large nappy pins holding together wrap skirts. On occasion, thick cable-knit cardigans and coats were nipped in at the waist with thick belts, but for the most they were left loose for a nonchalant look. At last there were the symbolic Rykiel flashes of colour. Ruby red coats, jackets and trousers each possessed an unfinished air; the latter due to frayed seams. Next, the signature house stripes came full flow on wool leggings and a matching sweater. The electric blue mohair knits were welcoming for an all round grunge-come-autumnal collection.
