Roland Mouret

Roland Mouret Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – Fun and flirty designs were on show at Roland Mouret where eveningwear elegance converged with a youthful desire to stand out from the crowd.

The collection was full of colour, prints and fabrics; think red velvet, darkened zebra print, honeycomb, red and blue florals as well as bright whites, greens, reds and electric violets. What makes this vast variety unique however, is that hardly one piece was comprised of only one of the above. Many in fact comprised of three or four.

Almost every piece had cut out sections of other materials. Whilst sometimes these were quite subtle such as the first red velvet trouser suit which had only a single small section of the material pinned back to expose the black lining underneath, even the first look used multiple prints to emphasis the fun, teenage-rebellion vibe of the pieces.

Sleeves also played a crucial role, not only livening up black LBDs with bold white and black honeycomb detailing but also adding to the mix and match atmosphere of the whole collection as the majority were detached from the rest of the looks and in a similar wide range of materials.

Despite this however, the looks were still very wearable with the cut outs often designed to streamline the figure, emphasising a flattering hourglass silhouette. This meant that despite the collection’s commitment to lively dressing, the designs did not forfeit their sexy elegance.
