Autumn-Winter 2013/14

Rick Owens is a decisive designer who knows what he likes, and it’s safe to say that it’s monochrome. He sticks with what he knows, and delivers a collection that has a mystic touch that invites you to delve in deep thoughts, just like this one.

There was an air of Samurai connotations this season for Rick Owens, whose kimono-esque coats and wrap shirts oozed fighter with cinched waists. With hair flowing; it was the fight of Rick Owens’s man’s life, and for his battle thick, luxe high tops were chosen in black and sand. Moving away from the Eastern influence, the much loved pieces began to emerge such as knee length vests, oversized leather coats which also came in thick oil black fur. An interesting garment came in the form of a backwards shirt with the sharp collar coning the neck like a crescent moon.

The cream and black kimono’s can perhaps be thought of as a mirror between two Samurai’s – one the protagonist, one the antagonist, we’ll leave you to decide which one is which. See, this is the beauty of a Rick Owens collection; it allows for you to dream.
