Zalij

Zalij is a pattern made up of lots of geometric shapes that link together seamlessly. It originated from Morocco and was used frequently as a mosaic in mosques and other decorative buildings. It is created using bright primary colours and has radiating star shapes, curved lines and polygons to create elaborate intricate patterns. It is usually geometric and only uses a certain amount of different shapes. These have particular names and are repeated throughout.
