Schiffi Lace

Schiffi Lace is a form of machine made lace. This type of lace is created by embroidering a pattern on a special type of fabric. This fabric has been chemically treated so that once the pattern has been applied the background fabric disintegrates. Schiffi Lace is manufactured on a schiffi embroidery machine. The net ground that is embroidered on may be kept or burnt away. This fabric is very lightweight and is usually heavily embroidered all over. The embroidery is made up of interlocking threads so that it can become a standalone piece of lace.
