Mousseline de Soie

Mousseline de Soie fabric is derived from the French language, literally translating as ‘Silk Muslin.’ It is a lightweight, sheer, muslin-like fabric. It is woven using a plain weave, and it very similar to chiffon. Mousseline de Soie is a fine, crisp fabric that was traditionally made from silk, and more recently made from rayon. It is a gauze-like fabric; semi-transparent with an open weave. Othe variations of this fabric include ‘Mousseline de Laine,’ which literally means ‘Wool Muslin.’ Fine grades of Mousseline fabric can be used for evening wear, as it is delicate and retains shape well.
