Peter Pilotto

Spring – Summer 2014 – A multitude of ground-breaking graphics erupted at the Peter Pilotto’s SS14 active collection. A definite geographical theme flowed throughout with reference to the four elements: earth, water, air and fire. Firstly, a green terrain opens the show with leaf-like material and patterns, followed by an equally as cool, aqua blue (perhaps referencing water). Paler palettes still, of blue dominated with wispy whites connotes air, finishing with the big bang of vibrant pinks and reds on jutting shaped skirts and dresses: layered then stiffened with crinolines. Notably the designers pushed boundaries of the labels technical repertoire, especially when creating the silhouettes.

Ornate digital prints and searing colours were layered with origami folds and patchwork, orchid lace. Never-ending, corridor prints incline into the chest whilst thick and thin lines, spiral. A solid step has been taken into new territory by the brand and is certainly a collection to acquire.
