羽毛作为头饰的一部分已经流行了好几个世纪了，但名声大噪的时期还是在20世纪20年代发带绑在额头上时开始的。发带用反复的亮片、小珠子和亮钻进行装饰使之与羽毛搭配时能比其他头饰更加的出众显眼。这些头饰通常作为20世纪20年代时演艺人士的晚装飘裙搭配出现的。
