Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – Known for her youthful collections, Sonia Rykiel broke her own mould, offering grown-up proportions by aid of smart and stripped back tailoring initiated with neat black blazers and simply smart trousers falling short of the ankle. Petite black jumpers were placed over white shirts were incredibly conservative purporting the prim and proper collection that became further purported with the sheer quantity of knitwear: cream low-waist wooly skirts were worn with matching cardigans and demure blouses, sometimes worn with simple white waist-belts. Fuzzy cocoon coats in peach and pink were ladylike and sophisticated and it wouldn’t be Rykiel without the occasional prettiness; floaty florally chiffons ensured this sufficiently. A continuation of this came in black and white as dresses were sheer, tiered and incorporated cute puffy sleeves. In all, demure (despite slits of chiffon showing skin at the end) and mature collection.
