Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – Riccardo Tisci has that certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to anything connoting with grunge. Facing competition from Gucci, and Rick Owens (to name but a few) all trying to steal the Gothic crown, Givenchy bit back with a vengeance revealing a vampish collection with oodles of hard leather creating entire outfits and ensuring knee-high boots had that dominatrix vibe. Dark lipstick and sinister eyewear were perfect for the bustier dresses and tiny leather skirts. Black was broken with tan, an interesting combination of colour and blood red made its appearance on collars before blooming on pleated skirts and chiffon blouses. Red and black scarves wrapped fiercely around the neck as the collection unfolded further fetish-like clothes such as an all leather jumpsuit, long black leather gloves and tapered leather trousers. A finale of lingerie dresses were sultry and sexy in black lace, pink, orange and soft blue, all with a Gothic tint ensuring Givenchy is still the go-to house for grunge galore.
