Spring-Summer 2013 – On Jil Sander’s return to the menswear catwalk, she showed a collection true of the labels style. Her man was a clean cut good natured schoolboy, the kind that you would happily take home to your mother, and his subtle pops of fashion gave him an interesting twist. She stuck to primary colours and a lot of white; red, green and blue suits with shorts, varied texture panelling, and her customary block colouring. The inconspicuous pastel colour on the bottom of shoes showed a modest boy, not too flashy but still has a sense of good fashion. The classic garments were all given an update in some way, the vest had length, the trench woollen with a matching shirt, and T-shirts were stiffer and adorned with geometric shapes. “We want to keep our integrity and go back to our roots,” said Sander of the show, and we’re glad she did. We missed you Jil Sander.
