Issey Miyake Women Spring Summer 2016

Yoshiyuki Miyamae’s SS16 collection for Issey Miyake was one of circus colour clashes, heightened by his use of neon colour designs around models’ eyes and messy, crimped, asymmetric hairstyles.  The shapes of his garments hung loosely off the body and designs remained simple in premise.  Miyamae is not a designer concerned with overt femininity, his garments instead explore new, interesting shapes and the way in which clothes can be structured.

His pieces with gently waving, multi-coloured pleats are prime examples of this aesthetic – the clothes move freely and of their own accord.  Hats and earrings fashioned out of tasselled paper and leather added to the quirky charm of Miyake’s collection.
