Hermes Women Spring Summer 2016

Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s second collection for Hermes was one of sleek lines and smart tailoring in silks and leather. Lengths were kept at mid-calf: culottes, skirts, and dresses all took on this shape, which was one of elegance and sophistication. Vanhee-Cybulski at times incorporated trainers with these looks, to update them and give them an urban leisure aesthetic, while pointed heels were also paired with loosely structured suit trousers and jackets were designed with the city girl in mind.

Leather was used intelligently: within the pleats of a skirt printed with a classic Hermes scarf print emblazoned on to it, fashioned into a long leather trenchcoat, and into a simple handbag. If other designers have been thinking about over the top prints and embellishment recently, Hermes is keeping everything simplistic. Just a few colours are used, colour blocked or placed into shapes on the clothes, but the main focus is on the fit of the garments and their quality.
