Spring-Summer 2013

No longer is couture solely reserved for extravagant ballgowns and luxurious cocktail dresses; trouser suit and separates have been in abundance on this seasons Haute Couture catwalk, as was the case in the Giorgio Armani Prive show. Metallic hues of steely grey, lipstick red and iridescent copper were on offering today, catching the light on skirts over trousers, and creating shimmers across the catwalk in the form of kaleidoscope prints. Heavy necklaces and small structured hats accompanied the luxe collection, providing a constant as the structured shapes that opened transformed into more voluminous and billowing printed dresses. Intricate handiwork was seen in the form of beaded embroidery that decorated the camisole style tops and brought a touch of sparkle to the sexy, satin landscape. The show closed with a dramatic floor length dress in sumptuous red that shimmered like the scales of a fish, and epitomised the glamour of the collection.
