Spring-Summer 2011 – Karl Lagerfeld remarked “not just sequins, diamonds!’ In one simple sentence Lagerfeld embodied his collection. Glamorous, chic and meticulously cultivated, the workmanship of the collection is explicit of an acute skill.  Seams were detailed with metallic threads and glistening beads: tops were embellished with 400,000 pearls and crystals. Gossamer embroidery was high on the agenda, gracing the new silhouette of the short jacket. This was teamed with a short skirt and crystal leggings; note the ruffed up look with the zip ankle. The dreamlike fairyland which the show exuberated was encompassed in the use of feathers, mixed with pearls and crystals (of course), on the layered tulle ball gowns. The Parisian princess was translucent throughout the show, beginning with the conservative and classic pea coat with a constant stream of snow white, to the finale of the wedding gown that embraced the fairytale collection.
