Grinko

Grinko Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – The title for Grinko’s FW17 show was “Love Gives Love.” A phrase conceived out of the birth of the designer’s first children, a pair of twin girls. However, any romance to be gathered from the collection name stopped there. The true, more readily seen theme of this season’s collection was a “culture clash”. Taking inspiration from the underground punk aesthetic, pieces had a overt sportswear sensibility mixed with classic tailoring which added an unexpected touch of polish. Silhouettes ranged from boxy and oversized to slouchy and fluid. What united each piece was an undeniable cool. While the color palette could have been a little bit more enlivened (one doesn’t initially associate black and navy with breeding love), the collection as a whole offered refreshing cuts and styling combinations. Expect to see the more interesting pieces crop up in street style blogs. But the tailored pieces are sure to be a hit in more commercial circles. Our eyes are the velvet-panelled full-length coat.
