Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli Women Spring Summer 2016

Giambattista Valli is a designer with a love of the Bohemian, tiny outlandish floral prints, and embellishment. The Italian designer’s SS16 collection incorporates these elements, and screams chic with a quirky twist. One of his signature dresses had the inclusion of clashing prints – spots and amoeba-like graphics – and was constructed with a high, ruffled collar and shoulders. Each dress was embellished with accents of jewellery: sparkling flowers, bejewelled necklaces, crystal detailing. These mini dresses characterised the collection, all with high collars and long sleeves.

Gladiator style sandals were designed to look like thin leather belt buckles rising up the leg and  glittering miniature platform soles – guaranteed to be a sure hit, while Valli’s longer dresses were less structural but all the more feminine, bohemian and wildly patterned. He kept make up minimal, save for a few brightly coloured streaks under the eyebrows, in neon pink and bright green.
