Gareth Pugh

Gareth Pugh Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – If Gareth Pugh’s A/W 16-17 London Fashion Week collection was meant to shock and awe it did so with exceptional style and grace.

Exaggerated shoulders on coats and jackets paired either with dresses, structured skirts or trousers gave a nostalgic feel of 1980’s power dressing. The accessories consisting of long gloves in black or tanned brown, circular brimmed hats worn on the back of the head and structured black briefcases gave a nod to today’s working woman.

Knee length cape jackets and coats with extra-large cuffs either featuring leather trims or shearling was enough to make anyone covet the items for their own wardrobe. The conventional strapless dress was reimagined with a cobalt blue offering that had extremely pointed corners on the upper chest.

The powerful woman theme was evident in the use of the white stars on cobalt blue background that comic book character ‘Wonder Woman’ used to wear. Incidentally, this is also the same star motif seen on the American flag. Gareth Pugh showcased it to perfection in the form of high waisted trousers, jackets and coat dresses.

Undertones of bondage were exhibited through leather dresses, skirts and on some models wearing half face gimp masks.
