Elie Saab

Elie Saab Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – In a show full of dark floral designs, Elie Saab’s collection was perfect for the edgy, free spirit woman.

Many of the pieces were quite gothic, with a colour scheme mainly of inky blues and blacks but there was always a sense of fun and frills to give the designs a girly edge. The long billowing skirts felt particularly romantic and the red, white and blue beading used in a variety of looks added a sense of youthful fun to the designs.

Lace was a key material, firstly used in pretty blue and red floral embroidered dresses of various lengths. These flowery details however were also combined with plunging necklines and studded choker necklaces and lace’s further use in increasingly sheer and provocative designs emphasised the naughty and nice feel of the collection as a whole.

As the show continued, the looks became increasingly risque with one design, teamed with a spiky fur coat, comprised solely of a sheer dotty fabric with carefully positioned strips of material and embroidery protecting the model’s modesty.

This culminated in a strapless leather and sheer dress worn by Kendall Jenner, which emphasised her stunning silhouette via a narrow buckled belt secured at the waist. The use of delicate beading and elaborate skirt kept the look feminine but the more structured texture ensured a large dose of rock ‘n’ rock attitude too.
