Acne Studios Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – This ready-to-wear is collection is simple and functional, with plain and unembellished designs that brought out elements of shabby chic.

Delicate layering filled the show, sensitively hung over silhouettes which emphasized an elegant and elongated stature. Most designs managed to combine overhanging items with a demure femininity; the beige, camel and bronzed palette offering a soft and intimate feel.

The addition of disfigured detailing, with patches being sewn onto dresses as well as frayed pieces jutting from the main body of clothe, bestowed an almost tattered finish. Crochet pieces were also evident, with a plunging knitted jumpsuit being a standout, modestly paired with a beige blanket-type shawl. Stripes and strokes of decorative textures promised a winter full of fun; floral prints and asymmetric slits interrupted the neutral toning and gave a much needed burst of energy.

Against a cavernous backdrop illuminated by a warm and golden glow, the collection emanated a mature primitivism with the threadbare detailing adding to this aesthetic throughout.
