Hessian

Hessian fabric is also known as Burlap. It is a woven fabric that is made from the Jute plant or Sisal fibres. It is used to make ropes, nets and similar products. Hessian is used as a backing for carpets and can also be used for sacking material. Due to its coarse, scratchy texture it is not used very often in modern apparel, but can be made into a fabric called ‘Sackcloth.’ Due to its colouring and texture it is used often in camouflage, as it has an open weave and doesn’t reflect light.
