Transport & Shunting Manager
Greater Manchester
£36,000 + Benefits
Role Profile
Cast UK is working with a well-established 3PL business who are looking for an experienced Transport & Shunting Manager. The successful candidate will closely support a key account for the business, based in Greater Manchester. The key to the role is to maximise the performance of the operation by directing the daily, weekly and monthly activities, providing leadership, motivation, training and development of the workforce, executing against customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervision of onsite Shunters, Strappers, Yard Supervisors, Consumables and Loading/unloading operations requirements.
* Maintain a safe working environment which complies with all aspects of the Company H&S policy
* Accountability for the management and supervision of the Loading/unloading operation.
* Effective leadership and management developing best practice across areas of responsibility.
* Manage, support and develop the operational team through continuous improvement and proactive communication
* Ensure the performance of the operation exceeds customer expectations in line with recognised contract KPI's.
* Liaise, support and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers
* Responsible for compliance including H&S and Standard Operating Procedures, including accident investigation and route cause analysis.
Skills & Experience
* Able to manage, motivate and develop people
* Budget management
* CPC holder -desirable
* Project management
* KPI development and measurement
* Ability to plan and organise effectively to meet deadlines
* Ability to use and understand computerised systems including TMS and WMS systems
* Knowledge of H&S legislation, preferably IOSH qualified
