地方格子花呢是一种同苏格兰格花样非常相似的花样，它由如犬牙等不同的格子图样在织物上与其它条纹或格子部分对比，这种花样可以使用多种不同颜色实现最终组合成图案。它最早发源于苏格兰人民的制服，格伦格子呢就是地方格子花呢的一种。
