Rick Owens

Rick Owens Man Spring-Summer 2017 – The Rick Owens’ collection was shown on June 23 as part of Paris Fashion Week. The collection, entitled ‘Walrus,’ displayed a range of rather minimalistic and modern pieces. The jackets on show were cropped and boxy, with long, billowy sleeves, making the torso look considerably shorter and the arms look considerably longer. Trousers on the other hand, were flowing and baggy, providing a cascading, sweeping effect and contrasting perfectly with the jackets on display. Colours were muted and mostly monochrome in tone, with whites, greys and blacks all coming to the forefront of the collection. This more subtle colour scheme was effective in allowing the futuristic, asymmetric cuts of the garments to do the talking. The show was not without its adornments, with the odd piece of shiny metallic embellishment again adding to the futuristic feel, as well as a pop of excitement to otherwise plain leather jackets.
