Spring-Summer 2010 – Gaultier is always one for a theme. This year it was the traveller. To begin, sombreros and double denim. Split jeans, embellished jackets and dresses with glitter at the hem were all worn with ultra long plaits. Moon white tight pencil skirts and jackets abruptly changed the feel, and this happened again with crazy patterned green tights teamed with a structured corseted bodice like jacket. It was all very over the top. Dresses took on two-dimensions, long and black and one side, white and red on the other; not forgetting the heavy fringing. Black suits took on a new dimension: billowing white fabric hung around the trousers, and white blouses adorned angel like wings. Exotic, metallic pinstriped suits were worn over the sheerest chiffon; even stranger was the cigar put with it. The only common theme were the hats, it was clear that Gaultier had let his imagination run wild for this exotic collection.
