Topshop debut in Europe: Amsterdam first flagship store

Yesterday, 26th of February, represented a special day for the British label Topshop: the opening of the first flagship store in Europe. Amsterdam, in the Netherlands is the lucky city that welcomed the trendy brand.

The 1,170 square meter shop is located in Kalverstraat, the main active shopping street of the Dutch capital.

Topshop is present in Europe with concession stands ( France, Germany and already in the Netherlands) but the high street label felt it was the right time to expand  with the presence of it’s own stand alone stores.

The three floors store has a minimalist design adapting the label style to a Dutch fresh taste.

Clare Drummond, senior international press manager, explained why they decided to give more space to casual wear: “In Amsterdam, and in Holland in general, style wise it’s a more casual market, with big denim lovers, so we gave our denim range more space here.”

“There is a smaller area for suiting but we are hoping to grow that as well eventually and introduce it to Amsterdam a bit more. We also have a few exclusive items that were designed for our Amsterdam opening, a few hoodies and T-shirts with a subtle nod to the city” adds Amy Moran, Topman PR manager.
