PFW: primary colors and sporty references at Jean-Charles de Castelbajac

Posted on

Blending street art and fashion, the former bad boy of French fashion opened with a palette of primary colors with black and white thrown into the mix. His girls wore their hair slicked back, some with colored plastic visors, and the cast of models included French actress and former Canal + weather girl (a role which entails superstar status in France) Pauline Lefèvre.

The accessories were the major story, with a sporty heel in white (and then colored) leather with velcro fastenings, and equally lust-worthy perforated leather bags with chunky perspex handles.

Clothes included plenty of colorblocked pieces, an all-white technical lace worn with a clear PVC overcoat, and colorful trompe-l’oeil overstitching details which were paired with chunky zippers. Functional elements to the collection ranged from sporty jumpsuits and playsuits with athletic ribbed details to mesh tops, multiple pockets on shorts, with a few sexy sheer pieces to end. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac also stuck in some deep sea diver illustrations and ‘Aquatyc’ slogans.
