Miu Miu Celebrates the Opening of Tokyo Flagship Store with a Runway Show Encore

Yesterday, in the midst of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week, Tokyo, Miuccia Prada celebrated the opening of the new Miu Miu flagship store in the city’s Ayoama district. The brand’s past and present campaign girls joined her and her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, Prada’s Chief Executive Officer, for the event. Adrian Joffe and Rei Kawakubo (of Comme des Garçons) were given a private tour before the other guests arrived.

Following the store opening, at a venue near Shibuya there was a reprise of Miu Miu’s Autumn/Winter 2015-16 show, originally staged at Paris Fashion Week on 11th March. The set was designed by architects Herzog & De Meuron, which featured an orange inflatable chair hanging above the runway as a nod to the collection’s kitschy sixties theme. The after-party involved a bar with shrine-like pillars, serving a selection of Japanese cuisine. Nicholas Jaar performed on stage, providing the entertainment for the night. Other attendees included Raf Simons, Marine Vacth, Imogen Poots, Hailee Steinfeld, Stacy Martin and Mia Goth, to name a few.

The two-storey boutique is an architectural triumph, with a futuristic angled façade and a colourful interior. This flagship store is now open to the Tokyo public.
