Milan Fashion Week: what to watch for
Schedule shakeups
Traditionally the end of Milan Fashion Week has been anchored with a big hitter, with Giorgio Armani closing the week’s events on the last day. This season he’s moved his show to the Saturday (September 20) leaving Sunday’s shows as the main finale (Marni, Ferragamo, and Trussardi will all be showing that day). The final day of shows on Monday will now shine the spotlight on a range of emerging labels and designers including Sergei Grinko. Will they step up to the plate and capture the world’s attention before the fashion pack rushes off to Paris?
Vogue Italia
One of the world’s top style bibles, Vogue Italia will be fêting its 50th birthday this Milan Fashion Week. Hitting a half century certainly deserves a celebration, and the magazine will be hosting a party on September 21 which will also act as the opening for a special exhibition on the magazine’s history according to WWD. Fifty years’ worth of material from Vogue Italia’s archives has been digitized for the event, with invitation-only tours taking lucky guests round the show until October 5.
Fausto Puglisi & Luisa Via Roma
The Sicilian designer has teamed up with the Florentine fashion emporium for the LVR1ST project, for a limited-edition capsule collection of shirts. The t-shirts will feature the #LVR1ST hashtag and an individual number from 1 to 100, and the one-size-fits-all pieces will be exclusively available on the retailer’s site on September 18, the day after Puglisi’s show.
