FW14-15: the season’s shoe trends

Posted on

Ankle boots
In footwear, ankle boots reign supreme this season. Whether flat (Hermès, Roland Mouret) or with heels (Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Valentino…), every fashionista will have at least one pair of boots that stop at the ankle or mid-calf. When it comes to colors, anything goes: wine, camel or classic black, often with decorative accents (Vivienne Westwood). Also, for those who don’t fear the cold, ankle boots with cut-out patterns are also big this season, as seen on the runways of Elie Saab and Emanuel Ungaro.

Masculine styles
Womenswear designers didn’t hesitate to draw inspiration from men’s wardrobes for this fall. Flat, no-frills brogues in white, brown, black and dark green brought a minimalist look to the feet of the models at Victoria Beckham, Lanvin and YDE. In a bolder take on the trend, the models at Marni wore masculine dress shoes in various colors adorned with metal accents.

Platforms
Specifically, this season’s platform soles are roughly the same height at the toe and the heel, adding a few inches of height without pointing the toes downward. There are sexy, feminine versions at Dior and Nina Ricci, sandals at Sonia Rykiel, slippers at Moncler Gamme Rouge and fur-adorned creepers at Julien David.

Knee-high boots
Notwithstanding the ankle boot trend, taller boots never seem to go out of style, and this season is no exception. There are flat knee-high boots with a retro style at Saint Laurent and Gucci, as well as lace-up ones with a sporty style at Chanel. But there are also knee-high boots with heels for a sexier style at Chloé, Véronique Leroy and Valentino, among others.
