Designer André Courrèges Dies

Designer André Courrèges Dies–  On Friday it was announced André Courrèges, the French fashion designer known for his futuristic aesthetic, has died aged 92, following a 30 year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Launching his Maison de Couture in 1961, he, along with Mary Quant are often credited with having invented the mini skirt, a classic piece from the Sixties style he represented.  Famed for his space age look, featuring geometric shapes and constructed garments, he retired from the fashion industry in the Ninties to focus on painting and sculpture.
