This film might have more aptly been called Desperately seeking Susan’s wardrobe. At the height of the 80s glam rock era, the fun and frivolity of Susan’s style conveys a carefree life we all want to lead. With Madonna’s “like a virgin” album hitting top of the charts in the same year, her popularity soared and everybody wanted to look like her.

The leggings, the lace, the studs, the velvet, the neon, the mesh, the sequins, colour clashing and the layering to make all these textures work together set trademarks for fashion today. The Eighties punk look comes back in some vein every year and I for one, would sincerely miss it if it didn’t.
